What is there to do here?

Anyone that is reading this that had been here please post in the comments, we have been around this island 50 times there is absolutely nothing to do here. We explored off the island a little today, guess what we found...more shopping. Tomorrow we go to the zoo, I am very excited. We really would like to get out there and see some of the culture but it seems like this is is just a big city, something like New York. I don't have the pix downloaded yet but as soon as I do I will post some, the place we went today seemed like times square. I was absolutely amazed at the number of people that we there.

Harlow is doing well, her personality is coming out more and more by the day. She seems to be a night owl which is good because night here is day at home. She is becoming more vocal as I am typing she is laying on the bed talking.

Awww come on don't you want to just stock up on all the cheap junk they sell all over the island!? I know there is only so much shopping one can do. The island is really small and I imagine being there for that long it would get extremely boring. Holt gave a a paper with a few places written in Chinese that we could give to a taxi driver but it was still just more shopping. Does your guide have any suggestions? I'll check out RQ and one other spot and see if there are any ideas. Hang in there your one day closer to getting home!

Ok, here is what I've found so far. You've probably already heard of some of this but just in case...

Try the Cow and Bridge Restaurant on opposite side of Island from WS.

Danny's Bagels for cheap and apparently excellent "room service" www.dannysbagel.com use the HaiZhu phone number.

Chimelong International Circus every night at 7:30 til 9. clcircus.com

Six Banyan Temple

Guangzhou Orchid Garden/Orchid Park

Yuexiu Park - largest city park in China. Lots of man made lakes, 5 Ram statue & a museum (stroller suggested lots of hills). Open 6-10

Antique Street near Xiajiu Lu

Pearl River dinner cruise (our agency suggested NOT eating though. Just go to see the light show.

Hopefully that gives you a couple of ideas you didn't already have! If the weather is nice then the Yuexiu Park could be a fun day (especially with a picnic from Danny's bagels!) Take care - we're leaving for the night so I won't be able to check back in on you guys until Monday - it's going to kill me! :)

Well, if you think you have it rought being bored, just think of Lisa....I bet she would pay a lot of money to be bored right now! So how long do you stay on the island? Is this where you stay for the rest of the week? Where did you find the Starbucks? Are you making Chad go there everyday? -Nichole
